Transforming our luminescent environment
into paint and canvas,
evoking the mood and beauty
of the world around us.
Closing Reception With the Artist,
Thursday August 27, 6-9pm
“Since I was a child I have drawn the world around me. Recording the moments and moods of time has become my life. The interplay of light and color with all of the delicate nuances, challenges my abilities and sustains me.”
Born in Washington DC in 1961, Gene Gregorio was formally trained at the Maryland Institute College of Art in Baltimore where he still resides. After leaving school with a degree in fine art in 1983, Gene worked in the museum exhibit field and began his own business at the age of 26 as a master cabinetmaker and museum exhibit builder. He raised his family and worked at his business for 25 years, but he missed painting. It was as if his life was not complete. After a trip to his parents’ home in Portugal in 1997 Gene decided to return to his love of art and began painting again. When the economy crashed in 2008 he lost his business and decided to paint full time.
Gene spends his time from Spring till Fall traveling from state to state exhibiting his paintings at Fine Arts Festivals, only displaying original oil paintings. His paintings are in numerous private and corporate collections.
“I am consumed with my art and at times must wait patiently until the sun rises so I can begin to paint. Each painting is a new beginning, a new adventure. I have been creating art since I was a child, and will continue till my last breath.”
